Obama’s Crude Chutzpah

On November 15, 2011, in Barack Obama, Unemployment, by Linda

Over the weekend at the Asia-Pacific Economic Coperation (APEC) Summit in Honolulu, President Obama raised a few eyebrows when he criticized a lack of ingenuity on the part of Americans in attracting foreign investment: But we’ve been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades. We’ve kind of taken for granted — well, people will want to come here and we aren’t out there hungry, selling America and trying to attract new business into America .

Two weeks ago , we noted a Chicago Tribune story about fraud by either the Indiana Democratic Party or the Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigns in the 2008 Democratic Primary in Indiana. Now Indiana Republican Party Chairman Eric Holcomb is doing what I urge GOP chairman to do: document all the fraud that actually happens on the ground and the convictions that occur . I always like to point to the 32 convictions from the 2003 East Chicago Democratic Mayoral primary  because the election was overturned, and we have testimony under oath of how the various sides try to cheat each other.  One example was sort of boring. In 2010, a  Muncie city councilman who had been on the city council since 1987 was convicted of mishandling absentee ballots . But the tastiest was a new one. Mike Marshall, who is running GOTV for the re-election of the Democratic mayor of Jeffersonville, right across the river from Louisville, just got indicted on 65 counts of absentee ballot fraud , along with his son and another guy. Now it wasn’t on behalf of the Democratic mayor. Mr. Marshall was responsible for a huge chunk of campaign expenditures: Marshall was one of several people that Galligan personally thanked during his victory speech on primary night in May. According to the latest campaign finance reports, filed Friday, Galligan’s campaign paid Marshall’s business, North Vernon-based At Your Service Co., more than $52,710.23 through the year  — almost a third of the campaign’s total expenditures . “He was in charge of getting out the vote ,” Galligan said. When asked to elaborate on what those duties entailed, he referred questions to campaign manager Phil McCauley. Get out the vote, eh? Well, it turned out that they knew about one allegation of the vote being gotten out improperly. Republicans in Jennings County challenged several absentee ballots that were submitted in 2010, according to Negangard. Democrats subsequently ran an advertisement in the North Vernon Plain Dealer accusing the Republicans of trying to deny those absentee voters their constitutional rights. One of those voters identified in the ad was a Marine named Ben Cook, who later signed a sworn affidavit stating he’d never cast a ballot. That initiated the larger investigation . It looked like the Dems improperly voted a Marine, depriving him of his rights. And once they investigated, they found enough material to indict on another 64 charges. Sounds more like a modus operandi than an isolated incident. H/T Rick Hasen

Saturday, marked the second week of the #OccupyWallSt protests. With the endorsements of union bosses now firmly in their back pockets, protesters in New York celebrated the anniversary of their campout in a New York City park by shutting down the Brooklyn Bridge. This, of course, led to the NYPD to arrest many of the—more than 700, according to the New York Times . In a tense showdown above the East River, the police arrested more than 700 demonstrators from the Occupy Wall Street protests who took to the roadway as they tried to cross the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday afternoon. The police said it was the marchers’ choice that led to the enforcement action. While some of the Neo-Communists (“ Neo-Coms “) are purposely depriving themselves of shelter and (in the case of yesterday’s arrests) freedom out of sheer ideology, at least one appears to be getting paid—handsomely—to be part of the Marxist madness. Meet Jeff Rae *: Among Saturday’s arrestees was one Jeff Rae ( @JeffRae ), from Washington, DC.  Mr. Rae describes himself on Twitter as a “ rabble rouser, agitator, organizer, labor activist. ” According to Mr. Rae, he was arrested for ‘failure to obey order, prohibited use of roadway, and blocking traffic .’ [In other words, Mr. Rae was being a disobedient civilian .] Apparently, the NYPD allowed the detainees to have their cell phones while being incarcerated since Mr. Rae continued updating his Twitter followers (and whomever else happened by) with tweets about his hardships in the hoosegow : Things going slow still in cell hoping to get out soon 4 people to a 1 man cell.  # occupywallstreet Jail photo right now  # occupywallstreet http://yfrog.com/kgokinlj Our cell does not have running water but toliet works . Cell next to us had a non working toliet  # occupywallstreet Police tell us our Singing in jail will add charges  # occupywallstreet Now, by reading Mr. Rae’s tweets , one could be left with the impression that Mr. Rae is just your average, everyday left-wing ideologue that gets himself arrested “for the cause.” If that is your impression, you are partially correct. To be sure, Mr. Rae is a left-wing ideologue. However, Mr. Rae does not appear to be just an average left-wing ideologue. In fact, it appears Mr. Rae is a professional rabble rouser, agitator, organizer, and labor activist. [See Agitpropist .] In fact, it appears that Mr. Rae is the same Jeffrey Ray who is employed as the Director of New Media by the Transport Workers Union in Washington, DC—the same union that joined the #OccupyWallSt  protests last week. And, as a professional rabble rouser, agitator, organizer and labor activist , Mr. Rae isn’t one of those downtrodden masses for whom the Neo-Communist protests are allegedly meant for since Mr Rae seems to be doing quite well for himself… In fact, as many Americans have been losing their jobs and homes during the Great Recession, Mr. Rae has actually seen his income as a  professional rabble rouser, agitator, organizer and labor activist increase substantially —from $69,353 in 2008 to $118,534 in 2010. Mr. Rae also appears to be the same Jeffrey Rae who traveled to Bejing in 2008 and was arrested and detained for six days, as well as traveled to Wisconsin earlier this year: Jeff Rae, 30, who works for the Transport Workers Union in Washington , said he arrived in Madison to gather intelligence on the controversy. His union sees Wisconsin as the first in a series of battles nationwide, he said. “This is Ground Zero,” Rae said. “Ohio’s next.” Like Wisconsin, Ohio is looking to cuts in spending to balance its budget. In Ohio, however, the odds are seen favoring organized labor more than in Wisconsin, Rae said. Who says rabble rousing isn’t profitable? * NOTE: Mr. Rae has not responded on Twitter to confirm or deny if he is the same rabble rousing, agitating, organizing, labor activist that the Transport Workers Union employs as its Director of New Media. ________________ “I bring reason to your ears, and, in language as plain as ABC, hold up truth to your eyes.” Thomas Paine, December 23, 1776 Cross-posted at LaborUnionReport.com and BigGovernment.com Related Posts: The AFL-CIO’s Orwellian Boss To #OccupyWallSt Protesters: Daddy loves you, kids… …And, So It Begins: Unions & Professional Left To Join #OccupyWallSt Protesters #OccupyWallSt: Just A Saturday Stroll Through The Park… #OccupyWallSt Day Three: Neo-Coms Call For The ‘Deprivatization of Everything’…

Obama’s Bridge to the Campaign

On September 23, 2011, in Barack Obama, by Cougar01

President Obama arrived in Cincinnati Thursday afternoon to tout his newest bill meant to stimulate the economy with billions of dollars in infrastructure investment for job creation. The Obama team chose the “functionally obsolete” Brent Spence Bridge connecting Kentucky and Ohio, and the still concrete trucks at the local Hilltop Concrete company for the event’s symbolic backdrop. The president arrived in Cincinnati for two reasons: one, to gain support in the backyards of two chief Republican critics—Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Speaker of the House John Boehner of Ohio, and two, he appeared on the northern banks of the river in swing state Ohio in an early quest for electoral votes in a key battleground.
