Yesterday, Glenn Beck hosted Shawn Lewis, president of Berkeley’s College Republicans, on GBTV via Skype to talk about the ruckus he and the group has caused on UC Berkeley’s campus with its diversity bake sale. The “Increase Diversity Bake Sale,” according to an earlier Blaze article, is meant to satirize a bill that would allow the university to consider ethnicity on admissions. Cupcakes were sold on a scaled pricing system according to race, which quickly spurred protests over being “racist.” To which Lewis responded, “you’re right, and that’s the point.” On the show, Beck was so overwhelmed by bake sale genius, he hugged the screen and told Lewis “I think I love you. I think you are one of the greatest men ever to live.” Watch: Lewis said the student government even called an emergency senate session where they discussed defunding the group for “creating an uncomfortable college climate.” But he’s not discouraged by this. He knows his rights and says that if it weren’t for the extreme outrage, the bake sale would have gone largely unnoticed. Early Wednesday morning, The Blaze reported on John King , who owns one of Toledo, Ohio’s largest non-union electrical contracting businesses. King has faced years of strained relations with a local union, but an incident last Wednesday escalated the situation to dangerous levels. In an exclusive interview with Glenn Beck, King discusses what happened when he was shot by an alleged union member. In describing the situation, he told Beck, “The landscape…has changed dramatically.” What once was slashed tires and minor legal troubles has now turned potentially deadly. King says that he walked outside in the middle of the night to discover an individual painting the word “scab” on his vehicle. After yelling at the individual to stop, he heard a shot and dropped to the ground. Luckily, he was able to get to a phone inside the home to call authorities (in fact, he didn’t even realize he had been shot until police and paramedics arrived). Having completed Andrew Breitbart’s book Righteous Indignation , I took a few moments to talk to him about it and how it came about. The conversation found it’s way to subjects ranging from Eric Boehlert’s unhealthy obsession with things that are Big , to a little reported rift that has developed between Andrew Breitbart and Glenn Beck . Suffice to say, the conversation was very interesting. Prior to the interview, I brilliantly railed against the standards that the Obama administration is putting forth for fuel efficiency (you know, the ones that make the Nissan Leaf, Smart Cars & the all powerful Prius dirty polluters?), as well as a few words on the madness that is the TSA.
