Now This Is Just Dumb

On September 1, 2010, in Barack Obama, Fox News, by markboabaca

If you ever want to see how liberal pundits try to gin up division within conservative ranks, look no further than this bit of beclowning. Sean Hannity did not talk about Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally on Sean Hannity’s show. Really. Apparently, because other Fox hosts did, Sean Hannity is supposed to do it too. I didn’t realize that Glenn and Sean had editorial control over each other’s shows. Sean Hannity is no more required to cover the Restoring Honor event than Glenn Beck is required to cover Hannity’s Freedom Concerts. This is ludicrous and trying to start controversy where there isn’t any. But ginning up an “internal rival” will do nothing but help ratings over at Fox.

Beck Underlings Sniping at Hannity?

On August 31, 2010, in Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, by markboabaca

On the heels of a tremendous success for Glenn Beck, a half million Americans attending a rally that was his idea from start to finish, somebody is being terribly ungracious to Sean Hannity. This story has suddenly popped up over at Mediaite . The gist: that Hannity in some fit of … what, professional jealousy? pettiness? … didn’t cover the Beck rally on his show last night. As somebody who watches both Beck and Hannity with regularity (and yes, for the record, has been on the old Hannity and Colmes and Hannity’s radio show), this is both professionally unfair to Hannity and…well…just a petty…make that lousy…thing to do. If designed by some publicity whizbang unknown to hurt Hannity they will hopefully learn this stuff only backfires. If that whizbang is in Beck’s orbit, he or she should be taken to the woodshed for making Beck look like something he clearly is not: small. It would be astounding if after something this big and this important the end result is some dope running around saying the whole reason for it was a better time slot at Fox. Not to mention that this surfaces the same day Beck announces a new website. Is this somebody’s idea of how to get good PR? Hannity and Beck have very different shows. They are…newsflash…very different people. Hello? Beck has justifiably gotten tons of favorable coverage for this rally…as well he should. Nearby you can find my own piece on this, with the mildest of concern expressed about the sharpness of Beck’s message. Make no mistake…I think Beck and the Tea Party folks and all those involved did a fabulous thing here. I’ve been hearing from Beck fans all day and they are thrilled, as am I. The criticism in this Mediaite story is that Hannity didn’t hand over his show to Beck to reprise the rally for the umpteenth time yesterday. Just as a viewer, I would have to ask…why would he? Beck was on at 5 and O’Reilly had him on at 8. Hannity did in fact have Sarah Palin on his show. If we’re headed down that road, then the question has to be why did Fox viewers have to watch the rally on C-SPAN instead of live on Fox? Was Roger Ailes caught up in some super-secret move to zap Beck? Why doesn’t Beck feature Hannity talking about the latest round of 8 years of Freedom Concerts where Hannity has honored the troops, the Goldstar families — and raised millions — say again — millions of dollars for scholarships for kids who have lost a parent in the military? Where’s the segment on Beck devoted to Mark Levin’s book? Why isn’t this person or that person or that person’s grandma on Beck? Yada yada yada. Seriously. There is a lot going on in this country. After decades of being trapped in the Mainstream Media cocoon, at last Americans have Fox and talk radio to turn to and finally get real news and real conservative viewpoints. They love watching Beck be Beck, and they love watching Hannity be Hannity.

I love watching Glenn Beck on TV. Day winding down, he makes so many good points. As someone who has spent a lifetime studying history, been there in government and politics, I find it great to watch Beck’s particular insistence on educating Americans about real history that has gone missing. Having long ago learned first hand the progressive-race connection, for example, by having lived for a couple years in Woodrow Wilson’s hometown, I am stunned to see someone have the wit and the chops to detail this particularly disturbing history of America’s “progressive” president on popular television. Bravo. So I watched the rally on C-SPAN.

Crabs vs. Kochs

On August 31, 2010, in Al Gore, Barack Obama, by markboabaca

The sometimes organized Left has caught on to the big dirty secret about the Tea Parties and it is now blasting the news all over its blogs and media outlets : that conservative patrons exercise total mind and body dominion. Look, for example, at the weekend’s Lincoln Memorial rally hosted by Glenn Beck (from whom they take their cues ). Somehow the coercive Astroturf effect of Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks made hundreds of thousands of people — from all over the country — appear suddenly in Washington. They spilled off the steps of the Memorial past the Vietnam War Wall, the Korean War Memorial, the Reflecting Pool, the World War II Memorial, and onto the hill in front of the Washington Monument. As leftists like the New York Times ‘ Frank Rich and the New Yorker ‘s Jane Mayer reported, the billionaire private oil profiteers Charles and David Koch enabled AFP/FW to make it all happen. You see, the Kochs have lots of money — intoxicating, limb-controlling gobs of it . With it they lured those flag-waving lawn chair-toters onto planes and buses from all over the South and Midwest to head to the nation’s capital. These zombies, after enduring long lines to obtain their Metro farecards, then rode the subway to the Mall where they could congregate in the August heat for several hours and listen to Beck talk about God. And everyone knows that’s the message the Big Oil Kochs are paying for everyone to hear. But it’s pretty hard to put a good conspiracy like that over the deep-thinking Left , especially the environmentalist ones — at least for very long. Now nearly all of them have caught on to the scheme: Greenpeace , Center for American Progress , Media Matters for America , Mother Jones , the Rockefeller Brothers Fund , MSNBC , among many others — oh, and the White House too:
