Unions Plan Siege On Conservative Political Action Conference [CPAC]
Next weekend, political conservatives from all over the nation will be descending on Washington, DC to attend the annual Conservative Political Action Conference—better known as CPAC . Across town, however, union bosses and their adopted #OccupyDC progeny are planning to disrupt and lay siege to the conservative conference. According to the AFL-CIO’s Washington DC Metro Council website , “Actions are currently being planned for noontime and after work on Friday, February 10.” Apparently, the unions plans to attempt to disrupt the conference with rats, puppets, and more: WE’VE HEARD ENOUGH FROM THE 1%! Join the rally featuring tents, an inflatable fat cat, puppets, “candidate Walmart,” and more to LET THE VOICES OF THE 99% BE HEARD! There is also a Facebook page for Occupy CPAC, posted by Change to Win staffer, Trina Tocco . It is important to note that Change to Win is the SEIU-led federation that broke away from the AFL-CIO in 2005— which means both union federations are involved in planning the attacks on CPAC. Unlike the Americans for Prosperity event, where #OccupyDC violently protested outside Washington Convention Center, as well as tried to lock attendees into the building, CPAC’s event is at the Marriott Wardman Park, which is on private property and is set back from the street. Therefore, if the AFL-CIO, Change to Win and their #Occupy goon squads do attempt to storm the hotel, while it may not immediately address any of those union occupiers who are inside the event, DC police should be able to keep them from gaining access from the street. Stay tuned… __________________ “Socialism has no place in the hearts of those who would secure the fight for freedom and preserve democracy.” Samuel Gompers, American Federation of Labor, 1918 Cross-posted on LaborUnionReport.com

Fallout On Obama’s Killing Of Keystone Jobs Continues As “Repulsed” Laborers’ Union Quits Alliance
The fallout over Barack Obama’s decision to kill 20,000 (mostly) union jobs on the proposed Keystone XL pipeline project continues as the Laborers International Union of North America left the BlueGreen Alliance Friday afternoon. Founded in 2006, the BlueGreen Alliance is a political pairing of left-wing unions and environmental groups whose mission (so to speak) is to ensure that America’s conversion to a green economy results in union jobs as jobs in industries like coal are destroyed. Included among its stated goals are passage of cap and trade legislation, as well as the Employee Free Choice Act (aka card-check unionization ). According to the Laborers’ union press release announcing the union’s departure from the BlueGreen Alliance on Friday afternoon, at least Laborers’ president Terry O’Sullivan seems to be understanding the Devil’s pact union bosses have made by sacrificing their members’ jobs in exchange for an economically-unrealistic “green” economy: “ AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka recently said there was a divide in the labor movement over this project ,” LIUNA General President Terry O’Sullivan said. “ That is an understatement. That divide is as deep and wide as the Grand Canyon. We’re repulsed by some of our supposed brothers and sisters lining up with job killers like the Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council to destroy the lives of working men and women .” [Emphasis added.] Specifically, O’Sullivan was referencing the CWA, SEIU, UAW, Transport Workers Union, United Steelworkers Union and Amalgamated Transit Union who had sold their souls (and union jobs) to the environmentalists and praised Obama’s decision to side with the green activists by killing the pipeline, as well as destroying the hopes of unemployed union members. O’Sullivan said Keystone is only the beginning of what will likely be a protracted struggle over major projects to build and strengthen America’s energy infrastructure. “LIUNA plans to unite with the support of the strong and proud unions of the AFL-CIO Building and Construction Trades Department to fight for good jobs that build America and strengthen our energy resources,” he said. “We will not stand idly by, nor will the Building Trades.” [snip] “Their real target wasn’t the pipeline, but the oil sands. They missed that target – the oil sands will be developed whether Keystone XL is built or not – but hit tens of thousands of working men and women,” O’Sullivan said. “ It is impossible for LIUNA to stand side-by-side with these groups . Construction workers are struggling with 16 percent unemployment and 1.3 million of them are jobless. The Keystone XL was not just a pipeline to them, it was a lifeline .” [Emphasis added.] While another BlueGreen Alliance member, the United Association of Plumbers & Pipefitters, whose members would have also seen work on the Keystone pipeline project has curiously stayed silent so far, the IBEW issued its own release on its website, which stated : While we are deeply disappointed with the U. S. State Department’s decision not to move forward with the Keystone XL pipeline, we are more concerned that a vital project that would create 20,000 construction and manufacturing jobs, generate $585 million in state and local taxes plus another $5 billion in property taxes and strengthen North America’s energy independence, has been ensnared in the political deadlock in Washington. On Wednesday, in addition to the Laborers’ scorching comdemnation of Obama’s decision, Mark Ayers, president of the AFL-CIO’s Building & Construction Trade Division (an umbrella group of 16 AFL-CIO construction trade unions) stated : With a national unemployment rate in construction at 16% nationally, it is beyond disappointing that President Obama placed a higher priority on politics rather than our nation’s number one challenge: jobs. Environmental activists who are not saddled with the economic and psychological scars that accompany long-term unemployment will applaud the fact that they successfully induced the White House to block this project. Meanwhile, thousands of proud Americans throughout the heartland will once again be faced with the terrifying prospect of losing their homes and their livelihoods as they struggle to find work. As was noted in the 2008 campaign, Barack Obama’s plan replace jobs destroyed with his “green agenda” was faulty at best. In fact, the Sierra Club’s “Beyond Coal” campaign has already destroyed up to 1.24 million jobs in 36 states—with more surely to come. For the sake of jobs (union and union-free), let us hope that more union bosses—and, if not them, their members —wake up from their delusion that Barack Obama is actually interested in creating jobs, as opposed to his agenda to “transform America.” __________________ “Socialism has no place in the hearts of those who would secure the fight for freedom and preserve democracy.” Samuel Gompers, American Federation of Labor, 1918 Cross-posted on LaborUnionReport.com

Implementing An International IRS In The Name Of Robin Hood
When good people blindly fall prey to the sinister machinations of the institutional left, America will be lost. Today, under the guise of making the rich “pay their fair share(!),” there is a global movement for worldwide taxation that is being pushed by the likes of George Soros, Al Gore, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, European Socialists, as well as union bosses (and just about every other Marxist group you can imagine). However, unless Americans realize the effort and its ultimate ends, some day soon, we may wake up under the thumbs of global bureaucrats demanding that all Americans pay their “fair share” to a global tax collector—an international IRS , if you will. Although the AFL-CIO’s Richard Trumka was caught conspiring with European Socialists last year on the subject of a global tax, lately, the tip of the spear has become the #OccupyMovement and its slogan “We Are The 99%.” And, the feel-good populist tax on all financial transactions is called the Robin Hood Tax . The push, primarily coming from Europe (where, thanks to the disciples of Karl Marx, all socialist programs seem to originate from), is gaining momentum on both sides of the Atlantic. Democrats, for example, introduced a bill in early November. According to the New York Times : Driven by populist anger at bankers as well as government needs for more revenue, the idea of a tax on trades of stocks, bonds and other financial instruments has attracted an array of influential champions, including the leaders of France and Germany, the billionaire philanthropists Bill Gates and George Soros, former Vice President Al Gore, the consumer activist Ralph Nader, Pope Benedict XVI and the archbishop of Canterbury. “ We all agree that a financial transaction tax would be the right signal to show that we have understood that financial markets have to contribute their share to the recovery of economies ,” the chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, told her Parliament recently. [snip] “ The tax is a good idea because banks are where the money is. It’s the same reason Jesse James robbed banks ,” said Rose Ann DeMoro, executive director of National Nurses United, which recently held demonstrations at the offices of 60 members of Congress in support of the levy.[Emphasis added.] Despite its “ steal from the rich and give to the poor ” populist appeal to the masses with its Disney-like imagery, the so-called “benefits” of the Robin Hood Tax may actually do more harm than good (at 6:30 in the audio). Yet, the tax (and spend) plan is being billed here at home as an itsy-bitsy, teeny-tiny tax by its advocates as a source of funds to be used to fund public projects (largely, for unions); while at the same time abroad fulfill the United Nations Development Programme’s Millennium Development Goals . As the AFL-CIO’s Richard Trumka stated when he and other union bosses were in France campaigning for the Robin Hood Tax: It is time to put Wall Street to work rebuilding Main Street with a financial speculation tax to create jobs, rein in speculation and lay the groundwork for long-term economic prosperity. However, regardless of how puny the tax is today, there should be greater concern over the Robin Hood Tax being the platform from which to build a global structure for global taxation. On November 30, Accuracy in Media ‘s Cliff Kincaid attended a U.N.-sponsored conference in Washington, D.C., where officials of the U.N. Development Program (UNDP) appeared on a panel endorsing the idea. According to AIM’s Kincaid : Alluding to an international IRS , U.N. official William Orme also said the imposition of the tax would require some kind of new global structure . Read the Accuracy in Media piece: Media Promote Global Tax as Financial Crisis Deepens Lest one think the Robin Hood Tax is the only thing today’s modern Marxists ( Neo-Coms ) are after, consider this piece from 2004, wherein the Center for Individual Freedom noted : In July, Inter Presse news service reported that a top U.N. official was preparing a new study that will outline numerous global tax proposals to be considered by the General Assembly at its September meeting. The proposals will likely include everything from global taxes on e-mails and Internet use to a global gas tax and levies on airline travel. If adopted, American taxpayers could wind up paying hundreds of billions of dollars each year to the United Nations. While as President, Barack Obama has been lukewarm on the topic of global taxation, he is a supporter of giving more of America’s money to other nations. As a senator in 2008, according to Accuracy in Media , Barack Obama sponsored the Global Poverty Act, which would have committed the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of GNP (or $845 billion over a 13-year period) on foreign aid. Inexplicably, ever since the #Occupy movement, union bosses and their bought-and-paid for Democrat politicians launched the Robin Hood tax and spend plan , there has no widespread condemnation. Perhaps there are some who think that, by condemning the plan for global taxation, they are siding with the ’1%.’ Perhaps, there are those who should be condemning the idea of a global tax but they don’t realize that a global tax, enacted by the governments of the world will lay the foundation for more forms of taxation by a worldwide body. Perhaps there are just too many who are no longer concerned about America’s sovereignty. Whatever the case, unless Americans realize that the Robin Hood Tax is only the beginning for all Americans to become taxpayers who subsidize the world, the machinations of the Left may likely become a reality. As Front Page Magazine’s Joseph Klein aptly stated about the Robin Hood Tax supporters’ argument: This grand wealth redistribution scheme “would allow those who benefit most from globalization to help those who benefit least,” the report argues – a variation of Karl Marx’s anthem “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.” ________________ “I bring reason to your ears, and, in language as plain as ABC, hold up truth to your eyes.” Thomas Paine, December 23, 1776 Cross-posted on LaborUnionReport.com . Implementing An International IRS In The Name Of Robin Hood
According to The Hill , unions and their Democrats in Congress are apoplectic over the fact that Brian Hayes, the lone Republican on Barack Obama’s National Labor Relations Board, has (allegedly) threatened to resign in protest over the union appointees at the NLRB deciding on Wednesday (Nov. 30th) to force ambush elections on companies and their employees. Due to a Supreme Court decision , where the high court ruled there must be a minimum three NLRB members to affect a quorum, with only three current members, a resignation at the NLRB would incapacitate the union-run agency. Notwithstanding Democrats fleeing from their jobs in Wisconsin earlier this year, oddly, neither the union bosses nor their paid shills in Congress seem to realize (or if they do, they’re not publicly admitting it) that the idea of incapacitating the NLRB came from their own playbook . Referencing the August open letter in which NLRB member Brian Hayes was urged to resign because though his resignation, “… the NLRB will become incapacitated—unable to wreak any more havoc on America’s job creators ,” the Hill reports : The labor movement is crying foul over a resignation threat from a member of the National Labor Relations Board that would effectively quash a long-sought change to union election rules. [snip] The backlash to Hayes’s threat from unions has been intense, as a long-held goal of simplifying and speeding up union elections would be stopped in its tracks by the maneuver . [Emphasis added.] Well, that would be the point, wouldn’t it? Since unions are legally allowed to mislead workers into unionizing and already win over 60% of the NLRB-conducted elections anyway, they really don’t need more help in crippling or killing businesses trying to create jobs. This past Wednesday, Congressman George Miller [D-CA] sent the lone Republican at the NLRB an accusatory letter and document request inferring that NLRB-Member Brian Hayes may have had “private requests or enticements that you may have received to resign prematurely, threaten to do so, or otherwise obstruct or incapacitate the Board…” From Miller’s letter : These open calls for you to cripple the Board began at least as early as August 2011. The website LaborUnionReport.com urged you “to resign your position as a member of the National Labor Relations Board,” asserting that “[i]f you resign your position, the NLRB will become incapacitated.” LaborUnionReport.com added that “your resignation will help incapacitate the NLRB until after the 2012 elections.” As Investor’s Business Daily noted on Wednesday: It is hard to see on what basis this claim was made. As examples of “improper influence” Miller’s letter cites a posting on the anti-union website LaborUnionReport.com and a public comment by South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley , both NLRB critics who have urged that Hayes step down to deny it a quorum . That’s it. There is no indication that Hayes corresponded with either or was even aware of their comments. Neither could be reached for comment. Miller’s spokesman, Aaron Albright, could cite no other evidence of any other groups trying to influence Hayes. Nor could he say what rules or laws would have been violated if Hayes had contact with them. Nevertheless, he said the committee needed to probe all of Hayes’ communications to see if he was given any “inducements” to quit. It appears as though either Miller or his staff did not do their homework or, perhaps, they didn’t get their fact sheets from the AFL-CIO straight, since the reference to South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley “calling on” Hayes to resign was, in actuality, a response to a Daily Caller reporter’s question. “I would support anything that would disband the NLRB,” Haley said in response to a question from The Daily Caller asking if she would back calls for Hayes to resign. Oddly enough, what seems to have escaped both the unions who are crying ‘foul,’ as well as Democrats like George Miller is that the call for Brian Hayes to resign was entirely inspired by their own actions, beginning in 2007. The Hill piece from Friday quotes several union spokesman upset with the possibility that Hayes would deny them their ability to trick more people into unions through ambush elections. The most egregiously hypocritical quote , however, comes from the SEIU: “ We think it’s really terrible to shut down a government agency over ideology ,” Peter Colavito, director of government relations for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), told The Hill. “ I’m really struggling to find precedent for this. It’s really an outrage as an attack on workers’ rights.” Apparently, not a single union “spokesman” or union-bought Democrat remembers 2007 , when unions had “thousands” of union protesters calling for the NLRB to be shut down ? The Nashville action was one of more than 20 held around the nation as thousands of union members said it is time for the labor board to be “closed for renovations” until a pro-worker board is appointed. Apparently, not a single union “spokesman” or union-bought Democrat remembers union bosses attacking the NLRB, as when the AFL-CIO’s Stewart Acuff stated that “this Board needs to be shut down!” Apparently, not a single union “spokesman” or union-bought Democrat remembers United Mine Workers’ boss Cecil Roberts’ rant on the NLRB? And, who ( except union bosses and their Democrat politicians ) could forget this little diddy from the union protests outside the NLRB offices in Portland? Apparently, not a single union “spokesman” or union-bought Democrat remembers the Senate (in coordination with union bosses) blocking President Bush’s NLRB appointments until 2009 , thereby crippling the Board until Barack Obama could appoint his union-picked appointees to radically alter the labor relations landscape in America? Apparently, not a single union “spokesman” or union-bought Democrat realizes that calling for Brian Hayes to resign (whether he does or not) is merely using their own set of rules against them? Well, you get the point, don’t you? Congressman Miller stated in his letter to NLRB Member Hayes that “the Board is an independent federal agency that administers and enforces the National Labor Relations Act for both employers and employees.” Given the union extremism of the union appointees within the Obama NLRB, Miller’s narrative is disingenuous, at best. This is why, as unions said only a few years ago: “It’s time to close the NLRB for renovations.” Member Hayes: Let Them Whine, It’s Time To Resign. A Final Note to Congressman Miller: Since 19 out of the top 20 of your contributors are unions, the reference in your letter to “special interest organizations and individuals” calling on Hayes to resign is fascinatingly hypocritical. Further, if by exercising the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment and calling, in an open letter, for a government official to resign is what you consider “improper influence” from a “special interest organization,” you may have forgotten the Constitution you swore to uphold. Lastly, Congressman, LaborUnionReport.com is not “owned” by Kulture, LLC—they are two legally separate entities—and no one from either entity has ever met, spoken to, or even been in the same room as Brian Hayes. ‘It’s Time To Close The NLRB For Renovations’
Did it really need to take two months for New York City Mayor Bloomberg to figure out that unions have hijacked the #OccupyMovement ? Most sane observers knew that from the very start when when the Transport Workers Union in New York endorsed the squatters in Zuccotti Park, opening the flood gates for other unions, the Democrats, and the institutional Left to climb on board. Since then, unions have provided paid protesters, legal representation, money, advertising, and even offered their property to the #OWS movement. What began as a Neo-Communist movement that allegedly only had the goal of destroying capitalism has now become a full-fledged, union-financed class war with the very real goal (in coordination with Democrats in Congress) of instituting tax increases, along with the it’s-only-a-matter-of-time global system of taxation , beginning with the so-called Robin Hood Tax . Now, so thoroughly have the unions hijacked the #OWS movement that the SEIU even stole the ‘We Are the 99%’ slogan in its endorsement of Barack Obama’s re-election. Unsurprisingly, the SEIU did so without even bothering to ask permission of the Occupy protesters. [Note the pre-printed 99% t-shirts on SEIU bosses as they were arrested on Thursday.] Now, after two months of coddling the anarchy-like protesters, the SEIU and CWA appear to be asserting themselves as the new leaders of the #Occupy Movement as they plans the next union-funded event: the Occupation of Capitol Hill. According to an interview with the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent, the SEIU’s Mary Kay Henry and her union cronies are planning the effort to take back the Capitol on December 5-9: The coalition — which includes unions like SEIU and CWA and groups like the Center for Community Change — is currently working on a plan to bus thousands of protesters from across the country to Washington , where they will congregate around the Capitol from December 5-9, SEIU president Mary Kay Henry tells me in an interview. “ Thousands of people have signed up to come to Capitol Hill during the first week in December ,” Henry says, adding that protesters are invited to make their way to Washington on their own, too. “We’re figuring out buses and transportation now.” One idea under consideration — pending various permitting and other logistical issues — is to have a series of tents set up on the lawn outside the Capitol, each representing a state, with the number of unemployed in each state prominently displayed. But the optics are still being worked out. One goal of the protests, Henry says, is to pressure Republicans to support Obama’s jobs creation proposals . More generally, the aim is to highlight Congress’s misguided obsession with the deficit and overall inaction on unemployment. As the #OWS matures into an election campaign for Barack Obama and Democrats, the original propagators of the #OWS movement are bound to realize they’ve been both hijacked and had by union bosses bearing gifts. Until then, however, the Woodstock-feel of the #OWS movement will continue its putrid and semi-organic co-existence with union bosses in purple shirts and pin-striped suits. ______________ “Socialism has no place in the hearts of those who would secure the fight for freedom and preserve democracy.” Samuel Gompers, 1918 Cross-posted on LaborUnionReport.com
